"Της Κρήτης κύματα"


Χώμα διψασμένο,
δάκρυα ποτισμένο,
δάκρυα και αλμύρα
της θάλασσας.
Άγια μονοπάτια,
μέσα στα βράχια,
μέσα στις σπηλιές
άνθη λεμονιάς.

Της Κρήτης κύματα,
γράφουνε ποιήματα,
πάνω στις πέτρες,
μέσα στις καρδιές.
Του θεού βήματα,
όνειρα αισθήματα,
ο αέρας πάλι χορέυει
τις ελιές

Αγγάθια και λουλούδια,
νύχτες με τραγούδια,
νύχτες, μελωδίες και μυρώδιές.
Καμπάνες, μοναστήρια,
πήλινα ποτήρια,
φώς, που αγγαλιάζει
τις βουνοκορφές.

The thirsty earth
covered by tears,
salty taste tears,
treasured in core
of the seas.

The sacred paths
amid the cliffs,
inside the pits
lemon tree blossoms
get a first glimpse.

The waves of Crete,
over the flints,
leaving the prints,
hidden in hearts,
never decease.

The treads of God,
dreams and loves
feelings and trusts,
breezless olives burst
into dance.

The flowers and thistle
nights with rhymes
flavor and melodies
waiting in silence for stars.
The bells and monastries
chalice of clay
knolls of the mountains
in touch with light forever stay.
